About Me
Linda

Well, let's see ... I'm married and have two children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. My husband is my best friend and business manager. Our social life pretty much rotates around the various facets of the Oklahoma City art community.

I've worked in retail, been a insurance adjuster and a auto service manager. I have my own graphic arts company ( Image Reflection ) - though I don't work at it much these days. And I've illustrated a book or two. But painting is what I do - what I want to do. Luckily folks seem to like what I do.

As for my work habits ... I don't have great discipline, in that I paint at all hours of the day and night - as the mood moves me. Too, I paint to fit my temperament - not subscribing to any particular niche. I paint in every media, and I'll paint almost any subject. My style is sort of constant ... It might best be described as loose or impressionistic traditionalism. I work to capture the story the scene symbolizes without an over abundance of detail.

So, enough said . Thanks for you interest in me and my artwork. If you are a mind to, you can read about My Art below.

About My Art

I am the sole creator of my artwork. With pastels I cut to size (and prepare) the media I paint upon from commercially produced art material. These media would include sanded pastel paper, suede matboard or matboard that I specially prepared with a wash or acrylic background. I use an assortment of hard and soft pastels from a variety of makers. With oils and acrylics I paint upon commercially produced art material. These media would include stretched canvas, fiberboard, and other board type materials. I make extensive use of a palette knife in my Southwestern Series landscapes. Elsewise I use an assortment of brushes and oil paints from a variety of makers.

My Artwork is sourced from photo references and plein air sketches. The finished paintings I offer for sale are created in my Oklahoma City studio.

As to subject matter, I am rather eclectic, but the preponderance of my artwork deals with southwestern landscapes, wild-life portraits, and still-life painting with character.

I have taken formal art instruction, taught by regionally and nationally recognized artists; read both theory and “how to” widely; and attended numerous demos and workshops presented by other master pastelists / artists

I am a founding member and former president of the Oklahoma Pastel Society (OPS). I am a member of The Edmond Art Association (EAA), The Oklahoma Art Guild (OAG), The Studio Group, and the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS).

My artwork is on permanent display at two Oklahoma galleries. I enter four to five static art shows and ten to twelve fine art festivals a year. I have won several festival awards for my artwork and was the featured artists at a regional fine art festival in 2006.
